We are honored to have Gerhard Andlinger '52 as our guest speaker at the Annual Welcome Reception. Join us in welcoming new Princeton alum to the UK and see old friends at our annual gathering.

As always, this major event in the PAUK calendar is FREE for all alumni and guests.*

Mr. Andlinger will be speaking about his path to Princeton and his journey since then, especially in regards to climate change and the new Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment.

About the speaker: As investment banker, philanthropist and sportsman, Mr. Andlinger has played a prominent role in global business, environmental investing, cancer research and educational and arts philanthropy. A native of Linz, Austria, he began his business career at McKinsey & Co., becoming an expert in management and turnarounds, then holding executive positions at ITT and a number of smaller companies before founding his own leveraged buyout firm in 1977. Over the last decade, he has turned his attention to environmental issues, both through his investment firm and his philanthropy.

Mr. Andlinger has made several significant contributions to Princeton, including a landmark gift in 2000 to establish the Andlinger Center for the Humanities [ http://www.princeton.edu/ pr/pwb/01/0618/1pyne.shtml], which encompasses Chancellor Green, East Pyne, the Joseph Henry House and the Scheide Caldwell House. Globally, he also has been a major contributor to cancer research, educational institutions and the arts.

In 2008, he made a gift to Princeton University to accelerate research on effective and sustainable solutions to problems of energy and the environment. Princeton will use the gift, which will total $100 million, to create the Gerhard R. Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment [http://www.princeton.edu/ acee/] within the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

About the Andlinger Center: The Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment supports a vibrant and expanding program of research and teaching in the areas of sustainable energy development, energy conservation, and environmental protection and remediation related to energy. A chief goal of the center is to translate fundamental knowledge into practical solutions that enable sustainable energy production and the protection of the environment and global climate from energy-related anthropogenic change.

The center was founded in July 2008 through an extraordinary $100 million gift from international business leader Gerhard R. Andlinger ’52. A stunning complex of research, teaching, and garden spaces to house the center is under construction. The expected completion date is March 2015. The center is part of Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and collaborates with the natural sciences, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the School of Architecture, and beyond.
